C.C.S.A. has installed a memorial bench at Pauquette Park, Portage in memory of the late Bill Murphy who assisted numerous outdoor and C.C.S.A. member clubs with legal assistance. These clubs owe their existence to Mr. Murphy who helped them get started and become a vital part of our community.

This "Learn to Hunt" program is held in conjunction with the Wisconsin DNR and held for youth ages 10+up and adults with less than 2 years of hunting experience and is FREE OF CHARGE!
This program consists of 4 class sessions.
Gun Safety Overview
Portage Hunter Safety Chief Instructor, Mike Mittelsteadt, and 30 year Pardeeville Hunter Safety Instructor, Doug Cole review safe gun handling and safe hunting practices with the participants. SAFTEY IS OUR #1 PRIORITY!
- Pheasant Hunt Seminar
DNR Wildlife Bioligiest, Sarah Kehri, teaches an informative seminar on pheasant habitat, survival and propagation.
- Gun Dog Handling & Training
Dave Knapp, State Champion Dog Trainer demonstrates hunting dog training techniques as well as advice on handling hunting dogs.
- Shooting Instruction
Clay Targets are thrown for participants to practice shooting moving targets. Guns and Ammunition are provided if needed. (Thank you to John & Stacey Holder for donating 3 guns to CCSA in memory of Bob Benzine.)
Lunch - Lunch is provided free of charge. Brats were from Johnson Sausage Shoppe, Rio Wisconsin and cooked up by master brat chefs Alan McDonald and Rhys Brenner.
The Hunt - The morning is spent hunting in groups of 2-4 with a hunter to mentor ratio of 2 to 1. Hunts are guided by the finest bird hunters in the state with top quality dogs. Master Pheasant Hunters, Bill Schaller and Ron Thompson
